Trouble In Paradise: Mai Tai Berliner Weisse
Our 2nd Tiki cocktail-inspired sour beer of December transports its lucky owner to a tropical state of mind. Whereas our Painkiller Imperial Sour (Bend the Knee) packed an immediate punch, Trouble In Paradise dials back the ABV to a level more conducive to holiday day-drinking.
Built on a backbone of malted white wheat, the beer was soured in the kettle with lactobacillus. Departing from German tradition, our Polynesian-style Berliner Weisse was then fermented with a massive addition of ripe pineapple and juicy blood orange puree. The result is refreshingly tart, tropical, crisp, citrusy, and superbly drinkable.
